About stillpointvrs
A space for mindful bodywork in Taipei, where Thai massage techniques are adapted with care to meet each person where they are.
Return HomeOur Story
stillpointvrs began with a simple observation: many people in Taipei were seeking bodywork that could adapt to their current physical state rather than following a fixed template. Some had been hiking in the mountains and needed recovery support. Others preferred a gentler approach suited to their age or mobility. Still others carried tension from desk work and wanted focused attention on their upper body.
We opened our location on Minsheng East Road in early 2024 with the intention of offering Thai massage sessions that could flex to meet these different needs. The approach draws from traditional Thai bodywork principles while being thoughtfully modified based on what each person's body is asking for on that particular day.
The name stillpointvrs reflects the idea that bodywork can offer a pause — a moment to step back from activity and allow the body some focused attention. It's not about transformation or dramatic change, but rather about creating conditions where the body can settle and respond in its own way.
Our practice is grounded in respect for each person's experience and comfort. Pressure is adjusted throughout the session based on feedback. Techniques are selected for their relevance to the areas being addressed. The pace is deliberate rather than rushed, allowing time for the body to respond to each movement.
We see our role as providing competent, considerate bodywork in a welcoming environment. Whether someone is recovering from physical activity, managing ongoing tension, or simply wanting to experience Thai massage with a lighter touch, we aim to offer sessions that feel appropriate and helpful without overpromising what bodywork can accomplish.
Our Team
Practitioners trained in Thai massage techniques with experience in adapting approaches to individual needs.
Mei-Ling Chen
Lead Practitioner
Mei-Ling has practiced Thai massage for over eight years, with additional training in therapeutic adaptations for seniors and those with mobility considerations. She values clear communication and careful adjustment of pressure throughout each session.
Jun-Wei Lin
Sports Recovery Specialist
Jun-Wei brings experience working with active individuals and athletes, focusing on post-activity recovery through compression and targeted stretching. His approach emphasizes circulation support and measured pressure suited to recently engaged muscles.
Ya-Hui Wang
Upper Body Tension Specialist
Ya-Hui specializes in concentrated upper body sessions, working through layers of tension in the neck, shoulders, and scalp. Her practice combines acupressure with slow circular movements, particularly helpful for those who carry stress from desk work.
Our Approach to Quality
Standards and practices that guide our work with each person who visits stillpointvrs.
Professional Training
Each practitioner has completed recognized Thai massage training programs and participates in ongoing education focused on therapeutic adaptations and client safety. We maintain current knowledge of best practices for different populations and physical conditions.
Safety Protocols
Before each session, we discuss any recent injuries, chronic conditions, or areas of sensitivity. Techniques are modified or avoided based on this information. We maintain a clean, well-organized space with proper equipment and clear emergency procedures.
Client Comfort
Sessions are conducted in a private, quiet environment. We check in regularly about pressure levels and comfort. You remain clothed in loose, comfortable attire throughout. Communication is encouraged, and we adjust our approach based on your feedback during the session.
Privacy Standards
Personal information provided during booking is kept confidential and used only for scheduling and session notes. We do not share client information with third parties. Sessions are conducted in private spaces with appropriate draping and professional boundaries maintained at all times.
Session Documentation
We maintain brief notes about areas addressed and techniques used during each session. This allows for continuity if you return for additional sessions. Notes are stored securely and are accessible only to your practitioner and necessary administrative staff.
Open Communication
We welcome questions before, during, and after sessions. If something doesn't feel right or if you'd prefer a different approach, please let us know immediately. We see feedback as essential to providing bodywork that meets your needs rather than following a predetermined pattern.
What Guides Our Work
Thai massage, as traditionally practiced, involves compression along energy lines, assisted stretching, and rhythmic movement. At stillpointvrs, we draw from these foundational techniques while recognizing that what helps one person may not suit another. A firm approach that supports muscle recovery after hiking might be too much for someone seeking a gentler session. Stretches that feel appropriate for a younger, more flexible person may need modification for someone with joint considerations.
Our practitioners are trained to read physical cues and adjust accordingly. If an area feels particularly tender, we use lighter pressure or move to a different technique. If a stretch reaches its comfortable limit sooner than expected, we honor that boundary rather than pushing further. The session unfolds based on what your body is communicating rather than following a rigid sequence.
We also recognize that bodywork is one element in a larger picture of physical wellbeing. Sessions can help with immediate muscle tension or support recovery after activity, but they work best when combined with appropriate movement, rest, and attention to overall health. We don't present massage as a solution to all physical challenges, but rather as a focused intervention that may provide some relief and support when used appropriately.
The environment at stillpointvrs is designed to be calm without being overly precious. We want people to feel comfortable rather than needing to perform relaxation. Sessions are professional and focused on the work at hand. If you want to talk during the session, that's fine. If you prefer quiet, that's equally welcome. The goal is to create conditions where you can receive the bodywork in whatever way feels most natural to you.
Location matters too. Being situated on Minsheng East Road means we're accessible by public transport, and the surrounding area offers places to walk or have tea before or after your session. We see stillpointvrs as part of the neighborhood rather than a separate retreat space, making it easier to incorporate bodywork into your regular routine if that feels helpful.
